Field Trip Courses

Several courses taught by department faculty have involved extensive 1 to 2-week field trips, which give students a more concentrated and extensive experience of working together, conducting their own field research in these areas, and taking away inspiration for future studies. Recent trips have included the following:

  • Brazil (urban and social geography, Brian Godfrey)
  • China (cultural and economic geography, Yu Zhou)
  • The U.S.-Mexico border (political geography and human rights, Joe Nevins)
  • New Orleans and the Louisiana Coast (earth science and physical geography, Kirsten Menking and Mary Ann Cunningham)
  • The Adirondack Mountains (natural resource conservation, Mary Ann Cunningham)
  • The Grand Canyon and central Arizona (water resources and environment, Brian McAdoo with Mark Schlessman of Biology)
  • Andros Island, Bahamas (intersection of biology and earth science, Kirsten Menking and Brian McAdoo with Robert Fritz of Biology)
